Im looking to purchase a remington 870 SPS supermag for my genreal hunting. i have a 870 wingmaster that my grandpa gave me and i hate using this as a bush gun. So if anyone has any past experience with the SPS I would love to hear it. Im also going with an 870 as i have never had a problem with the wingmaster and i purchased a rifled slug barrel last season that i will throw on this gun when the deer hunt comes around.

Don't have the SPS, but I do have an 870 Express Super Mag Combo; wood furniture, black finish, came with a 26" vent rib barrel and a rifle slug barrel with express sights. If you're used to a Wingmaster, don't expect the same level of finish. From a fit and finish perspective the Expresses are utility grade; nothing like the Wingmasters. On the other hand, mechanically speaking mine has had no issues whatsoever, and is insanely versatile; I've used mine for grouse, wabbits, deer, paper targets, clay pigeons, squash, pumpkins, zucchinis...

I liked it so much, in fact, that I wound up buying an 870 Marine Magnum :).

thanks alot i no not to expect the same fit and finish as the wingmaster, which is the reason im buying a new gun that i wont mind throwing in the back of my buddies argo or into a truck. I just dont want to see my grandpas gun get all beat up. He gave it to me with only having 3 boxes of shells through it and ive been using it for 4 years now.

No problems with the couple I have owned. Traded my first 3 1/2 about 4 years ago (all wood) for the fully camo synthetic in same shell length. No problems, just keeps on cyclin' and shootin'. Lots of add ons etc. Pobably people on here who dont like em, but you will find that about any gun anywhere.
