Hello Everyone

Does anyone have any experience with fitting aftermarket stocks and forends on a 870 Super Magnum.

I know that many people say that they are the same but they are not identical. I also know that some parts do seem to be inerchangeable and some are not.

For example

-I know that the magpul forend is listed as not compatiable with the super magnum.

-I also know you can change out pretty much any barrel and did change out mine to a Remington 18" IC bead that I got cheep. (Of course you can't use 3 1/2" with it but it does fit)

-A mesa tactical saddle & 6 shot rack does not fit as it will not let you rack the stock forend on a 870 super magnum

What I'm looking for is first hand information / experience from anyone who has changed out their stock or forend on their super magnum.

What parts / brand did you manage to change out?

Did you have to do any modifications?

Has anyone changed out to the FAB Defence M4 stock and PR-870 foregrip?

So before it gets asked why I'd want to do this. Here is the answer.

I wanted to get into 3 gun but I only had a O/U trap gun and did not want to use that.
So went out to Wholesale to get a standard 870.
They had both the 870 & Super Magnum in stock.
I asked what the difference was and was told nothing other than the Super Magnum could shoot 3 1/2"
Not knowing any better I thought, hey why not get the option to shoot 3 1/2" even if I don't need it now maybe I will later.
Plus as it is not any different (per the sales guy) why not.

Well long and short is the very first accessory I tried did not fit. A mesa tactical saddle rail & 6 shot rack.

I don't want to take the loss on trying to sell a brand new 870 Super Magnum that has never even been fired just to buy a regular 870 so I can add "toy's" to it.

Worst case I live with it, as it is in stock configuration.

But I figure there must be some CGN'ers that have added on to their Super Magnum and I just want to know what will work and what will not.

Thanks

You'll need to get the Hogue Overmolded forend for the 870 Super Mag. The Speedfeed ones won't fit/work.

Do you know why the Speedfeed ones don't work?

Is it because the Speedfeed ones will not fit over the receiver?

I assume that the Hogue ones do?

Just trying to figure out why some products do work and some don't.

I believe that I have heard that the foretube is the same on the 870 & Super Magnum but the length of the "arms" on the foretube is different.

Is that what effects adding different foregrips.
