Remington 870 Supermag vs Regular 870

Does anyone know for sure if a barrel from a regular 870 will fit on a 870-Supermag receiver?

A friend of mine wants a second (short) barrel for his Supermag gun, but needs to know about interchangeability.

I'm a Mossberg guy, so I don't know.

i have a 3.5 inch super mag barrel on a regular 870 magnum receiver so i would imagine the reverse should work.

Not to bump this thread but I had called Remington yesterday and asked this same question. So all Remington 870 barrels will fit on the regular 870 express as the 870 express super mag, with the exception of the barrels with the "tactical" designation in the barrel name. It is not extremely clear to me, but my interpretation is there is a tactical line up of barrels that are out there and they can NOT be used on 870 express and express super mag. All other 870 barrels are universal to all 870's.

i might add that there are some 870 special field models that were built in the 1980 time period that have a barrel that is exclusive to this particular gun and will not fit other 870 guns .
