So, I went out shopping today and something followed me home. Anyways, I am trying to figure out the year of manufacture, and the only way is by the date codes on the barrel. Assuming it is all original, the whole thing should be close together. Anyway, while looking at the date code on the barrel, it looks like it reads 0DR (zero, D, R) but am assuming it is ODR. The only thing is that the O/0 is not as in line as the D and R are. If it is OD, it is a July 1957 model, and if DR it is a September 1968 model. It has no prefix putting it from 1951 - 1968, so either of these letters together are in the range. Just looking for an opinion if it is OD, or DR from someone else. Thanks.

Thank you for confirming that. I just wanted to be sure so I knew myself. I was going to do a complete disassembly and re-do the whole thing, but after seeing it and the character it has, it will remain as is. But, here is the picture of the whole firearm as per request.

There are only two parts damaged, and both are on the buttstock. One is near the lower corner where the buttstock meets the rceiver, and the other is on the side of the buttstock. The latter, however is wierd as it is a good chunk taken out, and not on a corner, but on the flat of the side. So yes, I am sure this one has stories. And as stated earlier, the stories will remain, as I have decided to leave it completely as is and have fun with it!
