Remington 870 Wingmaster vs Express

Ok, maybe someone can answer this. I was looking at shotguns for waterfowl and I was kind of perplexed by Remington's 870 lineup. Browning has the BPS duratouch, Benelli has the Supernova.... both 3 1/2". Then you have the Express. Why don't they make the wingmaster with a nice camo. Sure the 870 express has camo, but its nothing to the quality of the finish on the BPS. That duratouch is something else. And why does Remington go so cheap down to the Express. WHy do they not take the wingmaster and sell an option with camo? Any opinions, insight
 
Since I own an Express and a Wingmaster, I can take a stab at this one anyway... Express is priced at a point where most hunters can afford them, so, the widest variety of models (for various applications) available=more sales. Wingmasters were once available in numerous gauges, and sales of those guns used to be brisk. Now, 12ga only...and it's a pricey gun. I think the Wingmaster appeals to a more traditional set, and I have a hunch there aren't too many of them in duck blinds these days. I think if Remington were to put a camo finish on a Wingmaster driving the price up towards the $1G mark, I can't think of many people who'd pick it over a Versa Max for a few hundred more. (if staying in the Remington family that is) Obviously, other manufacturers are dipping their higher-end guns and doing OK...but I suspect Remington is selling enough Expresses that it isn't a temptation. Just speculation...

My Wingmaster goes to the duck blind. I have an Express as well and its allergic to water, literally will surface rust on a humid day. I've put it on a steady diet of Froglube.
 
Sorry to thread jack, but what would a late 60's 28" full choke wingmaster be worth?
Mine has been in the blind plenty.
 
Yep Remington should bring back the 870 SP and SPS price them competitively with the current Super Nova and BPS, that $600-700 price range high end pump guns and include a sling the three basic chokes like they used to and I bet Remington would see an improvement in their PR and as a result sales of all their products.
I am always searching for an older 870 or 1187 SP with a 26" barrel, either the lovely wood and parkerized or the only camo gun that would stay in my case forever one in the original mossy oak camo. I don't know where they went in Canada, I may have to import one through Prophet River cause they are always listed on the us gun auction and dealing sites.
