I inherited a Remington 870 from my uncle. I was out shooting with it about a week ago and the shells don't eject properly. My cousin said he remembers his Dad saying it had an issue. I'm pretty new to the firearms world so not sure what is going on with it. Can any of u help me?

Depending on you location, there should be any number of gunsmiths that could help.

Who have you contacted thus far?

I haven't contacted anyone just yet. I was just at Rangeview Sports in Newmarket a few days ago but didn't take it with me. Was just shopping for a new optic for my Ruger M77 for this season. I know their guys are pretty good with stuff. They were highly recommended to me by my neighbour. Is there a known issue with the 870?

What do you mean by ...."don't eject properly"? Can you describe your problem a bit more in detail?
Also, what kind of 870 are we talking about? Wingmaster? Express? Police?
2 3/4? Magnum? Super Magnum? And how old is this gun?

And what shells were you firing?

Try to be specific .... The more details we have ... the more likely we can help!

The newer models (Express) has been known to have a sticky chamber, particularly with some of the cheap "promo" loads (Winchester.... cough, cough...) In this case, the rim binds in the chamber causing difficulties in extraction. This can be remedied by polishing the chamber and/or using different shells.
If the gun extracts but doesn't eject, then the issue is most likely the extractor being fouled up, or the MIM version acting poorly. In this case, the MIM can be replaced by the older machined steel version.

If it pulls the casings from the chamber but does not flip them out of the injection port then it will likely be the ejection spring bent or broken . Common problem . The ejection spring is held on by the first rivit that holds the ejector on this is a common place for failure the front of the injector breakes off .
