It seems there was a shipment of three 870 versions that has made it to Canada recently:

  • Remington 870 EXPRESS SUPER MAGNUM HARDWOODS REALTREE 12ga 3.5"
  • Remington 870 EXPRESS YOUTH 20ga
  • Remington 870 TAC-14

Ellwoodepps has a whole bunch in stock .... and those 870s should be showing up at other dealers as well soon ... I would assume ....

p.s.: I just checked and Wolverine Supplies has the same three models in stock ....

With reports of warranty issues with what used to be Remington, I think I’d like to inspect anything new in person. Unless they’re being blown out at cost.

Remington is dead, cut up into pieces and sold off. There is no warranty on old Remington Arms products.
RemArms is a new company that does not offer a written warranty. RemArms is trying to restart production on a shoestring budget.
Not a comparable company, but Browning doesn't have a written warranty either.
Only time will tell if RemArms services their products, or even survives in a tough market.
Close inspection of new RemArms product is a really good idea.

which year 870 needed warranty: none of the ones i had for years ...

I bought a Express in the nineties, first problem was shells sticking in the barrel. only high brass water fowl loads. then that winter my son in law used it for deer hunting and trigger broke. Plastic trigger in cold temps.
I have a 870 wing master that has shot, reliably, for 35 years. They are not the same gun

ok sorry i think we re on the same page about older wingmaster they re not the same gun at all you re right, i should have been more precise.

I had some time with a Tac-14 and an anniversary Wingmaster and the fit, finish and function on them was superb. That said I have seen a lot of posts with horrendous examples of modern 870s so I think you need to handle one in person before buying. Really there is no excuse for a modern production anything to be a crapshoot but some manufacturers still manage it somehow...
