So my buddy bought this Remington 887 shotgun shortly before he moved back East and he gave it to me to keep locked up until he gets back. He bought it used from a shop up north and put maybe 50 rounds through it, now it won't work at all. It seems that the hammer is not being held back by the sear (I'm a pretty big noob in regards to anything trigger group related). Does anyone know what might be wrong with this gun from the very little info I can provide?

The recall concerns the firing pin being stuck forward, causing an ND upon the closing of the bolt. There is a website where you can input the serial number of your shotgun and check to see if it is affected by the recall.

Oops forgot about this.
Ive seen another 887 where the notch on the hammer wasnt hardened properly and wouldnt stay cocked due to wear. Look at the hammer or post a pic of it and we can compare it too mine either that or it was a failed trigger job.

Here's a couple pics of the trigger group. As far as I can tell none of the major components seem to have a lot of wear and tear on them, so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm really not sure what's going on with it.
