Okay so i got to fondle one of these at Lebarons yesterday, and I like it. I Realize the older 09 models had some issues, but from what i understand the new 2010 models are good to go.

If anyone has one of these, by all means chime in. I'm also interested to know if it's possible to put a pistol grip on one of these.. or anything at all?

There was a thread going about these 887's awhile back but it didn't go anywhere so I expect prompt response from all my fellow shotgun lovers out there :D

there were some serious issues with them rusting beneath the plastic sheathing. people were reporting actually feeling the metal 'move' within the plastic sheath, meaning there can potentially be gaps that can accumulate moisture. i dont see how they could have solved this for 2010 without a redesign.

IMHO if you want a truly weather resistant shotgun, pick up one of the marine mags - which are truly weather resistant inside and out and retain the full versatility of the 870 platform. i fail to see the appeal in a chunky, plastic-coated gun with a limited aftermarket. looks like its a feeble attempt to recover some of the sales Remington lost to the Benelli Nova.

Thanks guys, I'll avoid the 887 like a swine flu shot. May just have to pick up that black 870 tac now.

If you liked the look of the 887, you can get a Benelli Supernova. It's in the same price range and probably a lot better.

Right on thanks. I was just looking on Wolverines site, and I noticed you can get a Supernova tac, with a 14 inch barrel for $700 or so I believe... I think I got a hardon

i sell remmingtons at WWS, and i can say i like the way they feel and fit (887's that is) , but out of the 6 i have pulled out for customers i have had one that didnt even let the action lock closed. i have also heard of the shotguns rusting under the plastic, and i have to agree with manbearpig, they have tried to change one of the best shotguns i have seen, but it wasnt a good idea. :/
