remington barrel swap

I have 2 remington 7400 models , a 30-06 and a 270
The 270 fails to #### the hammer on the backstroke and sometimes fails to pick up the shell from the mag , the 30-06 works smooth , I prefer the 270 , can I just swap barrels where they are both the same model and both long actions ?
I was told the 270 was redone by a gun smith , cleaned and new springs but found out later it was not , at least by the one they said did it

Why not have someone knowledgeable look at the 270? Sounds like it's short-stroking or the hammer/trigger engagement has been modified.

Yes - first thing to do would be to find out why the .270 is having problems.

in answer to your question, in all probability, the barrels could be swapped. Headspace might be correct. If it isn't, there is no easy solution. And if the problem is in the gas block of the .270 barrel, the composite rifle isn't going to work any better.

Find out what is wrong.
