I was wondering how difficult it is to change the bolt face on a rem 700. I have a short action 700 with the 308 size bolt face and I was thinking of building a .223 out of it. I have had rifles rebarreled in the past but always chose calibers that used the same shell holder. (my simple logic tells me that this should work, and it does) I know the Enfields have three sizes of bolt faces so head spacing is never a problem but I don't know what is involved in changing them. what specifically is involved in going to a smaller base cartridge? I might mention that it is a left handed action which is why I don't just run out and get a new one. But maybe the cost or the pain in the ass factor might dictate to buy new. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks Oh and I won't be attempting this myself. J
