Remington custom shop

I guess it depends on what you want. The prices on those rifles are quite high, and you could just get a regular Remington and send the rifle with a fistfull of dineros and get something that is more customized to your specific needs. I used to own a Remington Custom C Grade. It was much nicer that a regular Remington 700, but I bought it used, for a much lower price than new. You could get an SPS, have it rebarreled and restocked exactly how you want for similar $. What were you looking at?

I was looking at something like the AWR (alaskan wilderness rifle) or a KS Safari. The Seven laminated with sights (full mannlicher stock) alsol ooks nice. Maybe it is better to have one build from scratch....

I assume that the action is not more trued than a regular line one...?!?

It doesn't cost that much to lap the lugs and do the rest of the work on the action that Remington does. You could have an SPS customized for similar money. If you like the FS Model Seven, consider getting a youth version, ditch the stock and get a mannlicher stock and other little bits from one of the many suppliers. There are several good custom builders who visit this site. They can build you a great rifle, and it will really be unique.

If your in the market for a custom shop rifle, look at a HS 2000 For the Money, I'd pick it over a remington custom shop rifle.

I would buy a used model 700 and use the action as heart of a custom rifle, before buying one from the CS

I've had/ have a couple cutom shop rifles and I really liked them but they were bought second hand and I don't think I would of bought them new.

I finally did get a`custom shop gun and could not be happier, model 7 with the mannlicher stock in 7mm08 quick handling and accurate, fantastic little rifle

An AWR will cost a little over $1800. I think if you were to go buy an sps you could sell the stock and tube, recoup some of your money leaving you with the action. Then you you could use the tigger you want with the floorplate you want, everything the way YOU want.
BTW I had a Rem 700CS .375 once,I didn't think it was worth it

Rammakos Sports in Sudbury, ON has had a little custom shop M7 MS in 7-08 on the rack for over a year now. Don't know if it is used or new. Price was around 1200 I seem to remember (???)

Thanks guys, as you say, it's long to get a rifle from the cs, but my short experience is that it is also loooong with a gunsmith to have somthing built.
I think i'll go with a gunsmith anyway. I'll get what i want... I wish a could do business with ATR, but all the things would have to be done on the phone.... I live in Quebec....
