I also posted this in the BP forum hoping someone had some experience finding suitable brass. Tradex.com still has some of the old remingtons in this calibre. Is there a more common cartridge that could be used in this old 50 cal. ? I'd like to buy one but I don't want to have to start searching for rare old brass cases or forming brass from scratch. Anyone have any ideas. thx

4570;

Starline cases in .50-70. I got mine from Kerry Jenkinson in Grand Forks BC. You need to shorten them to 1.73 from 1.75, and turn the rims down a bit to chamber in your rifle. I did the rims with a file after shoving the case into my drillpress chuck, at slow speed.

LYMAN .50-70 dies are perfect.

LYMAN 515139 at 350 gr. for factory duplication.

I found that my barrel was too rough to shoot well with GOEX without cleaning between shots. Try another BP or replica powder. I had some PYRODEX Cartridge that works.
