Anybody know what year it was introduced??
I've heard 60's, 70's, even 80's. No sure answer.

Just purchased an older Wingmaster, didn't get the serial before shipping, and am trying to find out what year it likely is.
It's "Remington" logo is directly above the feeding port, rather than further back along the receiver next to the Wingmaster logo. The only models I've seen like this are the early 50's runs.
It also has a barrel different than any other Remington barrel I've seen...it looks necked, with a ring, rather than tapered starting at the receiver.

Thanks,

Andrew

The pictures you have attached don't show a FlexiTab equipped 870.

Left unit has a flexitab shell carrier

I realize that, no tab in the carrier.
Trying to find out what year they started equipping 870s with them, and what year this particular gun might be.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to wait for the gun to arrive to get the S/N then phone Remington.

In the mean time...
Recognize that the rollmark on the Wingmaster shotgun changes throughout the years.

Given the positioning of the rollmark between the two trigger pins, it is possibly from the early 1950's.
Later models had the rollmark higher up on the receiver.

Go to Google Images. Type in "1952 Wingmaster" and note where the rollmark on the receiver is. Then type in 1959 Wingmaster or even 1957 Wingmaster and look at how it's higher up.

I could be wrong though and maybe different versions have different rollmark placements.

Edit: I believe the flexi-tab came in the 80's some time.

I checked the later 50s models, and I believe the rollmark is only in that forward position in the '51 and '52 models.
I have an ex-OPP 870, and it's dated '82 with a flexiTab

So looks like it was a rollmark exclusive to the very early 50's guns. :)
As far as flexi-tabs go, some departments retrofitted their old guns with this system once it came out so not all guns with it had it originally.

Starting to look that way! We were going to break it down, and part it out for a Tactical build because we got a good deal on it, but I don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to do it if it's one of the first production years.

It would make sense that the OPP would have retrofitted to the more reliable FlexiTab on their patrol guns.
