I have been shooting CCI Minimags almost exclusively but when I went into the local shop to pick up more they were out. They suggested the Remmington Golden Bullet and what they had was the 40gr bullet with 1255fps mv. About the same spec as the CCI with a slightly heavier clad bullet. Anyone done a comparison? Read some online and it is all over the place. NO FTF with CCI and NO JAMS. Can I expect the same from something half the price?

Sorry about your luck. I bought a brick when I was trying to find out the best bullet for my new Savage.

Read a few reports about duds and poor ballistics. They were right. Many FTF's and the groups patterned really poorly overall compared to the other bulk ammo I had. You can even hear the difference in powder weight on some of the rounds.

You will return to Federal or CCI for cheap ammo. Winchester tends to be dirty.

Then again, it is just for plinking and having fun. I wouldn't try it in a semi auto unless you need practice clearing jams.

Golden

Well as luck would have it I just got a couple of 22s as part of a package deal that I plan to sell as they were not the part I wanted. I ran about 30 rounds thru 3 different rifles and no FTF and no jam. I had brought my CZ452 along to see if it liked them. At 50m the CCI outshot them quite a bit. Case closed. I will keep them for noobies to shoot. Thanks for the info.

Remington .22 ammo is garbage in my experience. The Thunderbolt bulk ammo leaded my S&W K-22 so badly that the bullets were keyholing. I actually had to screw the jag onto my cleaning rod and drive out the worst of the lead buildup before a brush could even pass through.

The "Target" ammo was no better. As far as I could tell, it was merely a standard velocity version of the Thunderbolts.

I have used the Remington Golden Bullets rabbit hunting with no problems. The rabbits hit with them seemed to go in the bag as good as the ones bagged with other ammunition.

Of course I have not fired tons of these cartridges but the ones I did gave no problems.
