I just bought 2 canisters of W231 (about $30/lb) and a brick (1000) of Remington #2 1/2 Large Pistol Primers- these were $49.00, and apparently the last brick the distributor had. (Lucky I didn't want Federal as they are unavailable, presumably due to US military requirements.)

I know everything is going up but this seems a bit odd since CCI LPP are around $35.00-37.00 CDN. Mind you, a check of a few US suppliers showed CCI and Winchester running around $26-28 and at least one retailer had a price of $36.99 on Remingtons, so maybe it's not all that unreasonable. Still, it was a bit of a shock!

when i loaded up in the fall i paid $36 for cci 250 and $32 for winchester mag primers, no federal to be found. i have many thousand primers now in case the shortage continues. i'm down to about three thousand federals!

A guy I know that sells ammo at the local gun shows is selling me S&B primers for $25.00 a box ...Taxes included....With the price of primers today, I`ll break the bank and get all I can....

I just bought 5,000 large and 5,000 small pistol primers for about $28/1000 at Hummison. Your price sure seems high.

This was from Hub Sports in Abbotsford. The first brick of CCI 300 I bought about 6 weeks or so ago were $37.40 on the box but they charged me something like $32.00 as that was the old price, and presumably the current price. The Remingtons were $49 and change. There is apparently only one wholesaler out here (Caldwell's in N. Vanc.) so it's not as if the retailers can shop around.

At this rate I'll probably use the CCI for my 1911 and the Remingtons (in 45 Auto Rim cases) for the 625 as they are supposed to be more sensitive than the CCI and I can back off the mainspring tension screw a bit more.

I could check shops in Vancouver but even if the prices were better the difference would be more than eaten up by the gas required to drive in and back. Same with ordering from a retailer outside the province- the shipping and hazmat charges would cancel out any savings. No free lunch!

You live in Mission area, Contact Dave Friesen in Chiliwack Sardis area, his prices are hard to beat, 49.00 is way too much!

Yes, I know Dave (bcredneck.com) although I've not ordered anything from him for some time. I thought of that after I'd posted the last message. I think I'll try him next time around.
