Hello all,
I am still considering one of these two rifles in probably a 223. Mostly for coyote, fox and wolf hunting but also a plinker up to around only 200 yards or so. I want something that is pretty much ready to go and doesn't require much work. Both of these guns sound nice because they are light but can't decide which one to pick. I understand the LTR has a 20" barrel which appeals to me but that aside, is there any difference about accuracy or quaility between them? I'm not looking for a heavy target rifle at this time but something that would be quite light and accurate and ready to go. Any input or opinions about these rifles or others fitting the bill would be appreciated. I would also consider calibres other than the 223. Thanks. Art

both will shoot awesome!!! but for hunting I would go with the LTR shorter, lighter

I will have one in 308 soon

oh and I am just waiting for the Savage shooters to get in here and try to lead you to the dark side:runaway:

for 200(and way past that) yards the 223 is perfect you can get lots of factory ammo for wolves, yotes ,G-Hogs,and any other pests

super cheap 55/62 gr FMJ's for paper punching.....

I was on the Predator Hunt Canada forums and came across this link. It's about barrel length, accuracy and velocity. http://www.accuratereloading.com/223sb.html I ordered a Savage 10FP in .223 and am looking foreward to getting it. If I had the money....I probably would have ordered a LTR in .223, even though the Savage is a better rifle. (Right Jamie? :D )

Pictures from the tests. Aesthetically, definetly not my cup of tea.

I was woken with a start at 8:40am this morning....

The 10FP LEA series are worth a look at. I have one in 308, and it is a shooter. ;)

BTW, I was fondling a LTR the other day. Daddy like. :D

don't get me wrong Savage's are great shooters.I had one of the first 110FP in Canada way way bak when...won aloy of matches with it.but if you handle a Savage and a Remington the action fit and finish go to Remington and is a much better starting place for a custom...I was looking for a Savage folder for my truck gun...now it going to be the LTR

LTR hands down, I have a .308 on order myself, fantastic rifle. There was an an article in Precision Shooter the author was hitting 6" steel plates @ 600 yards consistantly. Varmints @ 200 yrads will be no problem.

Savage is the best bang for your buck, tons of aftermarket options as well. There...I said it...take that Remmy fans. This is Savage Country!

Seiously, for $800 you can get a SS, heavy Varmint barreled, laminate stock, oversiized bolt hadle and shoot sub 1" out of the box. Your looking at over $1000 for any gun with those optins in a Reminton. I shoot both before I get slain.

Ditto you should shoot both first.....I can guess what you will pick
