I am looking at the remington SPS Varmint .308 as a platform to do a build however I noticed remingtion isn't calling the finish parkerized anymore they are refering it to matte blue? is this a real blued finish or parkerized...
I am also looking at the remington sps tactial .308 its claimed to be a black oxide finish is this different then the sps target or are they just trying marketing gimicks again?
The rifle isnt going to be used in wet conditions, I have to put a tone of oil on my special purpose 870 scope deer gun to keep it from rusting when exposed to rain and elements when hunting... its parkerized and I dont like it how do these rifles finishes compare. Our dehumidifer accidently got changed from 30 to 50% humidity and the parkerized 870 started to get some surface rust on it in the safe... not impressed.
I love my 15 year old VLS its got the good old fashion blueing on it and never any rust... my dads 40 year old 700 BLD same finish looks like the day he bought it.
