Hello all thought i would post a project here and maybe pick up a few pointers along the way I picked up this model 12 at auction by accident (thought it was a different one) and decided to fix er up. the bolt is in bad shape severe pitting as is the rear sight. but i test fired it and it functions fine and since its a octagon barrel if figured it would be a good practice piece for trying our rust bluing. I have cold blued before but it never lasts (rubs off on my hunting vest) anyways here's what is started with.

there are a few more in photo bucket if interested.

On the weekend I stripped and polished as best i could with a wire wheel on my bench grinder and steel wool. I'm using radocy rurt blue its an express blue I purchased from pj's in southern ontario its a bit different (as was explained to me by pj during two phone calls on the weekend....talk about good customer service) Basically strip and polish, degrease, boil, apply acid, boil again, then Card, I didnt get rust after the first application so i did three boil and acid cycles and one card so far and here are the results.

I am very impressed, some may not be but i got all that colour from three applications in about two hours in the garage(that doesnt include prep work.
Hopefully i can get back to it soon and update.

thanks for looking Mike

I started sanding the rear stock quick and was looking at a pretty good crack I need ideas about how to glue it back together.

Here's a pic

Also noticed this underneath the stock thought it was pretty cool.

I am also wondering the best way to refinish the stock I have done stocks before using stain and polyurethane they look good but scratch easily any help would be appreciated.
