Hey guys so Ive been looking at remington model 40-XS on the remington LE website. I cant seem to find much information on it as far as price and dealers though Im just wondering if anyone has a price on it or knows where I might find one (or even if I will be able to find one) here in Canada.

have a quality gunsmith build you a rifle it will be cheaper and build to your wants and needs.i feel the 40xs are way over priced and you dont get your moneys worth that my 2 cents

I totally concur.

Here is a break down for comparison:

Remington 700 SPS (for donor action) $800
McMillan A5 stock loaded $800
Krieger 5R Barrel 475
ATRS or V-Bull bottom metal system $350
Gunsmithing $650

Total ........................$3075
less $ from selling Rem
Take-off Barrel $125

Net total $2950.00

You would have a rifle far superior to any Remington custom shop gun for accuracy, guaranteed. Go to Alberta Tactical Rifle's website and see what customized guns you can grab in this price range right now too.

Agreed, I used to look long and hard at all those fancy 'custom shop' rifles, after I built my first rifle with a custom bbl and an accurized Rem 700 action I have never looked back.

My only disagreement with obtunded would be that for the $800 plus gunsmithing to accurize a Rem700 action you could easily get a Stiller action from Ian Robertson. With the current price of the Stiller actions it does not make sense to spend money on a donor action. The only way this will cost less is if you already own the rifle

You're absolutely correct! I was just tryng to make an apples-to-apples comparison as to why a 40X is obscenely overpriced with a Remington action. :)

Stiller is a fine choice for sure
