Remington Model 58 barrels

Does anyone know if replacement 11-87 or 1100 semi-auto barrels would fit on the older Remington Model 58 Sportsman? I'd like to get a slug barrel for it, if I can. Thanks, gents.

Edit: Also, would after-market options fit the receiver? I.e. stocks, mag tube extensions, etc?

No they won't. BUT a Remington 870 barrel will. Get a good 870 slug barrel and have a smith drill some gas ports and you are off to the races.

For the 870 barrel to function properly on a 58, the required gas ports MUST be the right size, and drilled in the correct location & (compound) angle. Copy the port size/location/angle on an original 58 barrel.

Get the 'smitty to mill a slot at the back of the cocking handle slot to stop the receiver from cracking while you're at it. See where & how wide/long on an 1100.

$ 75 bucks or so on top of the price of the barrel woulnd't be too much.

Tough enough job & beyond "the average bear's" capability to do right.
