I have an Remington Model 58 that I would like to convert into a slug gun, preferably just interchanging the barrel.... If not, I would have to take her to my smith and get it cutback, sights installed etc..... :(

I have heard rumours that an 1100 or 11-87 barrel will not fit her? :( Is this true? Someone told me that an 870 barrel must be modified to fit? :(

Also does anyone know if a synthetic 1100 stock set will fit the model 58???

As always, any help would be appreciated.

14 days until deer season....... My trigger finger is getting itchy....

870 barrel can be modified to fit it, try Wortners Gun Works in Chatham he should be able to help you with it.

Thats correct about the 870 barrel. It just needs to have gas ports drilled.A friend of mine is in the midst of replacing his 58's barrel with an 870 barrel.

Thanks guys, now I have a decision... trying to find a used cost effective 870 slug barrel and modify it or just cut back the one I have, put sights on it.... I would also like to re-blue the entire gun.

How much does the gas-port modifications cost at a competent gunsmith???

Anybody know the answer to the stock question?

Thanks again for the help guys.
