My friend has one in .308 with a Bushnell Trophy 3x9x40 scope I want to make him a fair offer on the combo. It's in excellent condition, both stock and bore, thoughts?

It's not a Mohawk btw.

The scope isn't new by any means, so I guess that should also be taken into account.

Any time a scope that retails in the $125.00 range, is on any rifle for sale, I personally feel it is a through in and adds zero dollars value to the sale. If it were my friend, I'd be looking for a deal, $350.00. FS

Thanks for the info - I was going to offer around $300ish so I guess my ballpark wasn't too far off. Quality wise, is it similar to the 700?

Yes, in some ways better, but a very different action. Designed for easy carry and the ability to be stuck in a scabbard on horseback (part of the reason for the dogleg bolt), with an odd bolt release (small lever on the inside of the bolt channel, LH side from the rear, that needs an external tool such as a pocket knife or similar to use). Good ones though, I have a few in various calibers. - dan

Wicked, great info.. I was wondering what the main differences were, as long as the bolt is good quality and there are no accuracy or reliability problems I think I'll make the buy.

My replies to the Model 600 are not popular on here!
However, in my judgement, the 600 in 308 calibre is very loud. I would not fire it without hearing protection, even one to three times, as in hunting.
I find it harder on the ears than a 300 magnum, with the usual 24 inch barrel.
I expect to be taken to task for this, but I would ask those people to bear in mind that noise damage to the ears is permanent and accumulative.
As a matter of fact, I will state that those people who claim it is not excessively noisy, have already lost the best part of their hearing and don't notice it!

Could ya speak up H4831 - What'd he say? Oh well - I like mine.

Solid little bolt guns with 18 1/2" barrels. No frills guns - handy to use - especially in a tree stand. The true M600 has a funky rib down the barrel and some a beech/walnut laminated stock (see vid below). The later 600Mohawks didn't have the rib. I liked mine in 222Rem (mine was a Mohawk model).

A decent M600 Mohawk in 308 is $350 or so here in Ontario. But a good condition M600 in 308 with the rib should fetch more IMO - maybe 600. I'd buy it but a recall is in effect for questionable safety - free safety upgrade if not already done. Details on remington website.

The M600 I have now is in 350RemMag and worth around $900 around these parts in that chambering. My son killed a bear with it last year. He had it out hunting last week and proved that the M600 can be quite merciful as well.
