I was looking for a new rifle for next season and saw the Model 7 Whitetail in 270 wsm and 300 wsm. They look very nice with that laminated stock and was wondering if any fellow gunnuts have one or know if they are in stock anywhere?
Im kinda tossing between this rifle and the new Model 70 featherweight comming out.

Cheers!!

I like the laminate stock on the M7. I wouldn't hold your breath for the model 70, might be a while before Canada sees any.

Your .270wsm seemed to work pretty well, by your pics, why get rid of it?

Ive handled a Model Seven Whitetail in 300 WSM. I like the barreled action, it looks sharp. I do not like the stock much, it is the stock off a 673. It is a bit too fat and I dont like the two tone pattern, it doesnt look as good as most laminates, such as the regular Model Seven laminates found on previous years models.

Otherwise I think its a pretty nice rig.

i thought the model 7 was too short for the WSM? hence the shorter RSAUM. did they open the mag box or something?

You might want to handle one before buying. I checked out a Model Seven one time with a laminated stock and found it to be quite butt heavy. Needed more weight up front to balance the heavier lam stock.

The Model Seven mag box has always been the same length as the short 700 box at about 2.830 inches...the short 700 has been available in the WSM's for a while now.

Remington tried to push the rsaum for a while, then figured out nobody was buying them, so they chambered for the wsm's.
