Considering picking one up as it would be just the right size for my boys too use for next years hunting season.

Pro's, Con's?

It would be a Stainless/synthetic in 7MM 08

Any help would be appreciated.

Isn't Xmas kewl.

I have carried one for a week at deer camp I loved the little gun light as a feather and quick to get to the shoulder.
On the range it was ok grouping 1 1/4 with Nosler Parts and 4064.
Was a nice little gun a friend of mine asked me to take it for a walk I liked it so much I kept it for a week and its still in my basement. I would review it as a keeper nice little gun.

I like 'em..they are nice and light and short...I have four of the little guys right now...have owned a half dozen others.

Have 223, 260,7-08 and 300SAUM

I shot them a couple weeks ago...the 223 and the 260 are both stainless/synthetics...the 223 shot 5 in an inch with a load I loaded years ago for another rifle and the 260 shot 140 factory CoreLoct loads in an inch for three...thre groups in a row,..I was shocked...both still have the bumps in the barrel channel putting pressure on the barrels, triggers were adjusted to 3 pounds...

can't not like 'em...

I have owned two in 7mm-08.One was actually a model 7fs with a fibreglass stock and a chromemoly barreled action and the other was a stainless synthetic. Both averaged right around MOA with 140gr handloads.

I had one in SS and 7mm-08. It was nice and handy but with hot loads of the bench it dug into my shoulder. Velocity loss was quite high, but Nosler notes that the 7mm-08 really likes a barrel that is at least 24" long. If I had another it would be a .260 or a custom in either .250-3000 or .358 Win.

I had one in 7MM08. Accurate powerful, (took moose, deer and black bear) the only fault was the fact that the safety when engaged did not lock the bolt. Lost several loaded rounds while climbing through blow down when the bolt opened. Went back to my old standbys Marlin and Winchester levers. no more lost round problems.
cheers Darryl

rem model 7

I have had a model 7 for quite some time and would sell any of my guns, but not this one, Its in .308 with 18.5" barrel. it will shoot just under 3/4" with 44grs of 4064 with 150 gr speer hot cors, I bought a synthetic stock for it this year, just to make it a little lighter.I have a Leupold 1.75 to 6x with a premiere retical #3 dot with alluminum rings and base. total weight with sling
6.6lbs You won't look back if you get a Model 7.

I love the one I have , shoots sub 1 inch groups at 100yds, 7mm08 model 7 mannlicher with laminated stock 20 inch barrel quick fast handling gun

Love that little Rem 7...

Had one in .308 Win but sold it to a fellow CGN'er who had it custom rebarrelled to .358 Win I believe. Still have one in .223 but I had the 18 1/2" pencil barrel replaced with a 24" factory 700 barrel... Love this rifle & it shoots very well considering what I have into it... :D

Nester... those are some lucky boys!!!!! A little Mod 7 SS in 7-08 Rem is as good as it gets - Lightweight, Compact, Mild Mannered, and downright devastating on even the largest game out to distances further than most can shoot. Throw a little 2-7x33 Leupie on top w/ Talley Lightweight rings, and you'll have a rig that they will get a lifetime of enjoyment out of (hazard a guess that you will want to pack it too (grin)).

Used a bunch, and love'm (to answer your question)

my buddy has a SS Model Seven in 308, and it is a good gun, but the synthetic stocks on them are about a pound more than they should be. Heavy tupperware that should of been used to keep last nights spaghetti fresh instead.

Remington should put good fiberglass stocks on the M7, like the Bell & Carlson they use on the Titanium.

besides that, the Model Seven is a nice compact, light platform. 7-08 is a good cartridge too!
