I just purchased this rifle and was wondering if anyone else has the same rifle (doesn't have to be the same caliber)? If you have, I was wondering how long it took for you to notice the blueing on the bolt to start showing scratches and rubbing thru. I have only shot 20 rounds thru this gun and I have scratches on the bolt already, is this normal or not?

P.S. Anyone know where to buy a lucas bore guide online?

It took 20?.... wow... mine took 12 or less....lol...

My .30-06 DM is my FAVORITE hunting rifle... and I own many more expensive rifles... it's rugged, accurate and I can hunt it hard without shedding a tear every time I bang it up against a tree or a rock.... mine is topped with a Redfield Revolution 3-9 x 40 which I also love....

Thanks guys, I heard those Redfields are made by Leupold, they come with lifetime warranty as well, might get one. The scope on it now is the one that came with it, eye relief sucks on it, touches my eye when I shoot it.:ar15:

Been using mine for 7 years now. I absolutely love that rifle in that caliber. I reload my own and have been very succesful with it. Every animal I have shot has dropped pretty much where it stood. My longest shot was 325 meters on a larger mule doe. I shot her through the brisket, the bullet exited on the lung side of the daiphram out her right side. She was dead before she hit the ground. Not an ounce of wasted meat, and no real mess when field dressing her. That was with a 180gr Nosler Accubond over I believe 72ish grains of RL19 (agreed it's a bit big for deer, but it works).

I have a pivoting bipod and am using a Bushnell elite 4200 3x9x40. THe only upgrade i'll be doing in the future will be a boyds custom wood stock.

Enjoy the Remington and forget what the numbnuts say about it. At least all the ones in our family are great shooters.

I love my Redfield..... it's a 3-9 x 50 and gives me great clairty up to last light.... it is also VERY well built.... It's not a zeiss or a swarovsky or even a high end Leupold.... but it's also not 1-2000 dollars and it works great....

As stated its just smoothing itself out, as long as you keep it lubed up during storage times and it doesn't bother you to see it getting broken in, you'll never know the difference in how it functions.

The jewelling on my BDL bolt used to really bother me as the guide rails in the reciever scratched into the jewelling. All in all, great shooting rifles with great solid actions - even though they never dropped degree of the bolt throw.

Has the position of the scope been adjusted for you? Everyone mounts a scope differently. The most expensive scope in the world can still hit your eyebrow if its not fitted for you. Your also shooting a 300WM, which has a tendency to recoil rather heavily.
