remington model 788

Hi I inherited a Remington model 788 in 308 the problem is the extractor is broken off the bolt. Any suggestions of places to contact for a new bolt? I'm sure it can not be fixed as it was one piece of metal before.

Have you tried the Remington factory for a new bolt? Or Ebay? Just off the top of my head....

E-bay has a bolt but it is over $300 and still 2 days left in bidding. The Remington website say they don't carry parts for this gun anymore. They do have a list of dealers and repair shops but they are all in the USA.

Can't you just replace the extractor?

most just clip to the bolt and come out easy enough.

If you go to Brownells . Com they have a drawing. It is replaceable. You might be better off seeking out a gunsmith though because it's riveted into placeb

Well for years i thought the bolt and extractor was one piece, when my dad had looked into getting it fixed 30 years ago he was told he would have to find a whole new bolt. After reading your post i did a little more digging and thank you, i did not know it was just a rivet on piece!!
