Remington model 798 rings and bases

I just bought a Remington model 798 and I'll be looking to put a zeiss conquest 3.5-10x, 44 on it few months down the road (little short on cash at the moment). Which ring/base combination would you recommend?

Would you recommend the 1-piece or a 2-piece base? I was also looking at the Burris rings, which have the plastic inserts that would eliminate the need to lap the rings. Any opinion on these?

Burris rings are good, as are their mounts. Anything that fits a commercial 98 Mauser will fit your rifle. - dan

You want the base that says it fits the Mauser Mark X or FN Mauser. I'm not sure if Burris makes a base that fits that action but you can buy the Leupold base that fits that action and use the Burris turn in rings that have the inserts. I have you these rings both turn in and weaver style on various gun/scope combos and have been very happy.

I just finished mounting the scope. I ended up getting the Leupold 2-pc standard bases and Burris signature medium rings. I'll post some pictures shortly
