OK all you remington gurus What is The difference between the two?? Anyone have any clues? I await your august answers!! JITC:confused:

Blue book says:

Not a hell of a lot on this one JITC

Remington model 8, aprox 60,000 made from 1906 to '36. Add substanial premiums for higher grades C through F

Doesn't even refer to a model "A". I assume that all the letter sufixes just refer to finish of the wood, metal etc. Don't believe I've even seen a model 8. I wonder if they were 'jamomatics' too??

Thanks Salty, I have a model 8 in 35 REM and,I know where there is a nice 8A also in 35 REM. Mine usedto be a Jamo matic but I replaced the extractor and its as fast as my M1 rifle. I wanted to know about this 8 A model. Thanks JITC

No sweat. Hopefully someone more learned will chime in. I remember reading an article about the Texas Rangers, and saw a picture of a troup mostly toting model 8s...

I have a model 8 in .30 Rem. It has never jammed on me yet and I've shot it lots over the past couple of years. I beleive the Model 8 was the predecessor to the 8A with the A being a small change or improvement but I have no idea what that might have been. I would really like to find a Model 8 in .35 Rem.
