I would not buy a used one based on all the issues I hear. I figure if someone is selling theirs it is likely they are having issues with it. I bought a new one a couple of years ago and it has been a great gun, it has not jammed or malfunctioned once.

I heard lots of negative stuff about the 887 but after shooting an 887 side by side with two different 870's I decided to buy one and its been good to me. No problems at all and at $430 + tax. Cant beat it for a remington shotgun IMO.

I had one and really wanted to love it. It looked cool, polymer coated so will last, shot soft for a 12GA. Only problem was any rearward pressure on the pump would put it out of battery. The last thing I want is a firearm that is not reliable/questionable if it will fire. Sent it back under warranty and Remington could not fix it so I got credit for it and got the 870 Tactical instead.
