I just purchased a new to me remington model seven in .260 Rem now the question i have is what kind of scope mounts do i need to get for it. The only other riflei've hunted with was already scoped.

I'm not new to guns but more to the optics side of things. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated

best regards Logan

Talley lightweight is the only thing I've been putting on my rifles lately and I know lots of the guys here are doing the same. Simple, strong and light

There should be lots of choices, but the only one I've mounted a scope on I used Warne bases - there's that odd close hole thing with the Model 7's, if I remember it's the rear base that's the oddball.

The newer Model Sevens have two holes front and back on the receiver for mounting scopes. The older ones only have one hole on the rear reciever ring and generally use a 1pc base.

The Talleys are nice, but require the new hole pattern and tend to be a bit high.

I used Weaver bases and rings on my Mod.7 simply because Talleys
(my preference) were not available locally and also the Weaver set-up are a wee bit lower. Admittedly they don't look as good as Talleys, but seem to serve the purpose..:)
