I free floated the barrel and epoxy bedded under the chamber and the lug area. I resealed the wood with Tru-Oil after hogging out the barrel channel. I took it to a local smith and had the trigger lightened to 2lb 3 oz. and bought a new 3x10 Elite 3200 and bore sighted it. I picked up a nice aftermarket black anodized aluminum trigger guard and it fit perfect without any grinding or wood working.(Thanks CVMW) I also removed the front and rear sights and plugged the holes with filler screws. After getting it on paper at 100 yds and getting good results ,I tried it out at 200 yds. My reloads were 165 grain Hornady BTSP with 46 grains of Reloder 15, I was happy to see the last two rounds of the batch of handloads group in at exactly inch.Next to get some chronograph results with the short (18.5) barrel. I love it when a plan comes together.....:D
The loading data was safe in my rifle, work up yours for your rifle.

I'm interested in seeing your chrony report. I haven't tried RL 15 yet in my Sako, but the 165gr with 4895 is running 2750 out of my 20" barrel...

The original Jeff Cooper Scout Rifle was a Rem 600. I always hated the floorplate but news that there is an aluminum job out there gives me hope. Maybe one of these will follow me home some day.
