Remington paper shotty ammo

All kinds of challenger here in 12ga target like 100 flats of each size in stock and 84.99 a flat bot people also don't shoot the numbers any more like you guys do down east. The days of 25,000 a year are long gone now 5000 is a big shooter and that would be just 410 years ago when I shot seriously
Cheers

That’s cause we’re getting priced out of the sport. I’ve never been a big shooter. It used to shoot a flat (250) a week most weeks between sporting clays, skeet and five stand. Missed a week here and there and didn’t go to the club much through hunting season but nowadays I can’t afford to shoot near as much. Have more expenses and responsibilities also but still.

It has never been cheap IMO and I started in 1965 It is a matter of what one's priorities are and adapting and maybe something else you enjoy may have to drop off the table or be reduced or change what you are shooting. Leaving the 12ga and going to the 28ga for reloading and shooting saved me a quite a bit
Plus stock up when you can find deals, yes the last two years is different and everything is off the wall when it comes to prices but eventually things should average out . I also buy in bulk no 1 pounds of powder all 8 pounders etc etc try to join others for group buys to save shipping costs
I look at my salary in 65 and the prices of components and compared to now if anything I have more disposable income to buy but I have no house payment or loans either at my age so should be easier
Just keep slugging some shooting is better than none :)

Here it is actually because we have way fewer in the shooting sports today . I know in my area don't know any kids ( under 18) reloading anything as one example unlike even 20 years ago and my skeet and trap club closed last june :(. It was there a lot of years and may have been 20 active members left and mostly older guys and it was the only club left here for shotgun sports for at least a five hour drive now one way
Take care

I suppose if a guy wants to do something bad enough he will always find a way. But for me, around here at least it is becoming cost prohibitive. We are lucky enough to have an amazing shotgun sports facility which is truly awesome. A point I fully recognize and try to support it as much and as often as I can. As you mentioned there are not a lot of young shooters. We have a few come and go but the majority of dedicated and competitive guys are certainly not in their 20’s or 30’s.

Reloading is becoming almost a fools errand they way component prices are going. I have a stockpile but do not look forward to replenishing it all.

Name of the game I guess. And as you mentioned, priorities. If I could redirect the funds spent on kids hockey, me and them could be shooting regularly for sure ;)

We have recently come through a period where shotshell ammunition has been cheaper than ever before, in terms of disposable income.
If you calculate inflation on our $1.65 box of ammo from the early 60s, you will find that is equivalent to nearly $20.
The death of Trapshooting was predicted in the 1960s, when a box of shells hit $2.
I am not promoting $20 target ammunition, but I suspect there will be a new normal, higher than the recent past.
We will only know where the price of cheap Promo ammunition will settle, when all the competitors are back to full production. Challenger is now selling Cheddite ammunition, loaded in France, to consumers in the US.
There's ammo loaded in Turkey appearing in the US now.
Peters paper hull ammunition is just a nostalgia item, that never was destined to supply a significant part of the demand for target shells.

Sounds to me you have your priorities right where they should be :)
To keep the kids involved and happy
Shooting takes a back seat to that IMO

I load once fired Federal Gold Medal paper hulls that a friend saves for me, I have no need to buy factory papers at that price .

Federal Gold Medal paper hulls have more internal capacity than equivalent plastic hulls so are perfect for my black powder loads. I managed to squirrel away my lifetime supply a few years ago when I was actively competing. They are good for about 3 reloads before the BP burns them out or the crimp goes soft.

Yup and that is exactly what I use mine for!
