So I have been looking to buy a 870 wingmaster. I have not been able to find anyone who has any remington products in stock. Is this a covid thing or an importation problem? Very frustrating.

Remington went bankrupt.
Remington assets were dispersed in a court controlled sale, last year.
The purchaser of the Remington shotgun manufacturing business has not yet restarted production.
It is not clear whether they will succeed in restarting a business that all the major firearms makers in the US declined to bid on.

From what I understand Ruger now owns Remington and Marlin.Marlin having been purchased by Remington in the recent past.

Remington ammunition is now owned by Vista the same company that owns Federal,CCI and few other such companies.

The new owners restarted and the 870 is on the list of first production. Will be some time before we see them up here

The new owners of the ammunition business have restarted, last I heard the new owners of the firearms business have not.

Ruger bought only Marlin. All the other firearms lines of business went to a consortium of investors that includes a few former executives of other gun companies.

The Remington rifle/ shotgun business went to Roundhill, a real estate holding company with no history in firearms.
Their point man In RemArms is Richmond Italia, who ran his paintball empire GI Sports into bankruptcy, leaving investment banks unpaid.
Bushmaster went to another bidder.

RemArms has recalled 230 former Remington employees.
They only have a letter of agreement to start negotiating a comprehensive labor agreement within 60 days.

Remington essentially went under so whatever is left on shelves is what is around. Apparently they are starting production again with the 870 and 700 with a promise of having them to market by hunting season. That said, as Canadians, we will be on the backburner vs the states who have had a surge in first time gun ownership between covid and the biden admin taking over. My only hope is that they are more interested in purchasing handguns and AR's and leave some more of the hunting/long range builds to get across the border to us.

I seriously doubt the next generation of Wingmasters will be anywhere near the quality of the older ones . Given where Remington were prior to bankruptcy, quality wise, I won't miss them.

The factory is up and running from several sources. The labour agreements have been settled and more workers are being called back.

I heard the same. Apparently they restarted production a few weeks back. I'm sure it will take a while to get things rolling and up to speed but hopefully it works out for them and they can produce a good product. Time will tell.
