Just a quick question. In another thread i have a remington 22-250 with a eroded throat and another member here has a barrel that i want.So here is my question, they are both remington rifles, short actions ,the only difference is that his barrel is new and stainless and mine is a older blued version.
Has Remington done any changes to the thread on there barrels or will his just screw in no problems?Yes i know to have a gunsmith do it to check the headspace, all i need to know is if there will be no problems so that i dont waste money on a barrel that wont fit.
Thanks in advance..Ice:)

Remington 600's Mohawks, 660's 700's 721's 722's, 40X's, Fireballs, etc share the same barrel thread size.

788's are unique to themselves.

index

Actually, chances are, it will even headspace properly, but it may not index correctly as far as the lettering on the side of the bbl being in th eproper location. :) bearhunter

The barrel will screw right on. Rem. barrels don't index as far as sights, etc. are concerned. It may be necessary to adjust headspace. It is a good idea to measure to be sure that the space between the bolt nose and barrel is correct. You have the tools to remove the old barrel and install the new one?
