I just read on RFC if you call Remington and give them the serial # of your 597 17 HMR.they will sent you a return autherization and rebarrel your gun to 22WMR .

I wasnt following the recall to closely, what was Remington giving in replacement for the 17 597? or could you pay the difference and get a higher up gun? I am still drooling over the idea of a 17hmr semi auto, seems like volq is the only other viable option.
