Hey guys ,
Im looking for some advice from those of you who have used the following Rem model 7600
Model Seven

Looking for a short to medium range deer gun, 308/ 7mm-08 perhaps.
Also are the new 7600 made poorly now? I have heard that the 710's are just bad but are all the rifles poorly made in Remingtons new "High Tech " facilities?
Or is there still some quality out there?
Still love that 308!

We need to support each other as firearms lovers because there are enough people out their who want to see us portrayed as criminals or supporting criminal activity! Shame on the Liberals for identifying and targeting the wrong group. Of all the people shot in Toronto this year how many of the firearms were smuggled or stolen?I would estamate all of them.Properly licensed "Joe Farmer" likes to shoot for recreation or to provide some food for the table, not blast some innocent people on the street. Liberals wake up & get real! Sorry for the rampage just very frustrated by this governments thinking! Export the criminal element back to were they originate. That should help a little, and send a clear message too!

Welcome to the board. Glad you could join us.

The Remington quality issue has come up a number of times here - there's a general belief that "they just don't make 'em like they used to", QC and warranty service are really sub-par, and have been for some time now. Couple that with a senior-level manager at Remington saying that "Canada doesn't matter to Remington" or somesuch (paraphrasing there), and you have a recipe that says stay far, far away from them.

That being said, my honey's Model 7 is a sweet wee thing. However, Ruger's sub-compact version of the venerable Model 77 is just as sweet, is priced well, and is build like a freakin' anvil. Take a look here:

Probably a better way to go, IMHO. I'm sure others will chime in shortly.

Cheers, bud. Vote Conservative.

If you are still looking at the 7600, find one with a metal trigger guard. My father has used his 7600 for about 20 years, has only had one problem with it, but that was a factory issue. If you can find a good used gun see what it feels like but I believe they are better than the new ones.

nothing wrong with the Model Seven

please dont speak of the 710 again in the same post as the Seven or a 700 :)

btw welcome to the site

i have both the 760 and the 7600 in 30-06....great little gun:D just ignore the anti remmies you will hear from soon...
btw...welcome to the nutz house:)

you can't go wrong with the 7600, I do find the older ones to be better. I have a new 7600 in 270, but I like my older ones better and they are in 270, 30-06 & 243 so I do have a little experience with the 7600
btw... welcome aboard

Well, pump rifles are harder to clean... it has to be done from the muzzle... And remember that, no matter what people can say, a bolt action will always be more accurate and more easy to maintain than a pump or a semi-auto...

As for remington's caring for Canada, if they really don't give a sh... about us, we shouldn't stop buying their rifles because, like they say, it's not gonna bother them anyway... we're too small. I think that the USA (as a matter of fact, the whole country) don't give a f... about Canada. So to be consistent with their idea, the anti-remmy should buy only european rifles and shotguns. Maybe, Ruger (or any other co.) official's think the same as Rem. and maybe the're only smarter then Remington's... they shut the f... up!!!

I was in a gun store today and a guy was ordering in a model 710 in .270. I should have said something to the guy but for two reasons I didn't
1. I was in total shock that someone would actually buy one and
2. I was dealing on a rifle with the sales man and didn't want to piss him off.

Package deal [rifle with scope & mounts] Rem 710's are $430 at Wholesale Sports. Heck why would somebody get one of those when he can order a Rem 700 SPS for $499???

Yes, the pumps are a wee bit harder to clean than a boltgun, but the problem is very small and not insurmountable. I use a bore guide for my rods and have no problems at all. Actually, my bore guide is a .223 case with the head cut off and is left on the rod all the time. Besides, it would be better to ruin the crown on the muzzle than ruin the chamber on the other end of the bbl.

As for the accuracy thing, the pumps are NOT less accurate than most out of the box boltguns. This is a false urban legend that the great numbers of boltgun snobs like to believe, and I've got the targets to prove it otherwise. :D

Remington

Hi boom boom
Don't know about model 710 quality but the Model 7 is a great gun mine in .308 shoots under 3/4" with 18" barrel at 100 yards and I put a Light stock and painted it see photo; it weighs 6lbs,7oz with sling, scope included.
I also have a Rem 700 with a Hart Barrel you can not get much better it shoots .125 at 100 yards in 7mmwsm caliber great guns

Ok,... I can admit that SuperCub has very accurate pump rifles, but he better shoots them from at least 100 yards, because with all the "rattling" that the forend makes, only a deaf deer will allow him to get closer...

I maybe snob, but I don't recall ever seeing a pump rifle rifle being used a a sniper's rifle... Some of my partners have tested the 7600P as close range perimeter weapon (less than 50 yards) and they chose to stay with another pump..... an old trusted 870P 12 gauge....

hey no offense Bud...

SuperCub is right on the money, the 7600's are deadly accurate. As for shooting as good as a sniper, I turned in a .285" three shot group two weeks ago with only a 1.5 X 5 leupold shooting at 100yds. At the same time a member of the local swat team was shooting a custom .308 with a Mark 4 scope and he wasn't doing any better. I was also told that the U.S. marines used to use 7600's in .308 for some type of moving target competition (running boar?) and they cleaned up with these rifles.

No offence taken, but I'm not a sniper, just a lowly hunter. :D

Unfortunatly the poor sap had left the store before I had done my business. Oh well, he'll have to learn the hard way.

Come on people, do some friggin research before you buy a rifle:confused:

If you type Reminton 710 on GOOGLE the first thing that comes up is " don't buy one you stupid idiot" then a hand comes out the side of the computer and smacks you on the side of the head just for thinking about it.

I have to hand it to this forum, even though you will always get a difference in opinion you will still come out with more knowledge than you started with.

I'm done ranting, sorry to all those who own a 710 and think its the bestest rifle you ever did own. Your in the minority
