Good evening all. Cleaning this and some others up for an aquaintance, unfortunately they were poorly stored. I looked here and on the internet but I can't find similar pictures. Any ideas as to model or year of manufacture? Thanks.

You have a sporterized Danish contract Remington Rolling Block. There were plenty of surplus Remington made Danish rifles even before the majority were sold off by the Danish Government. Rifles made at Copenhagen were made with better quality steel and therefore suitable for conversion to smokeless so the Remington rifles were either stored, sold to marksmanship associations or sold off. Given the sights and hot dip blue on this rifle, I'd wager it was sporterized in the 1950s. Are there any makers marks on the rear sight? Is the barrel sleeved? What does the breech face look like?

Thanks for the info, Denmark would explain the crown on all barrel bands. I do not see any markings on the sight. Muzzle still has rust on it. I can't see if it is sleeved.

Transmission oil and very fine steel wool 000 to get rid of all the surface rust. You can reblue or leave as is .... be careful using the steel wool - just hit the rusty pitted areas. Do all the details ...

This is a nice piece, was customized anyways. Once cleaned up consider reblueing, would be worth it to me. It was a really nice piece, too bad was left out to the elements.... it is worth it to make it nice again... I have a similar in 32-20 love it.

It does looked sleeved. As you can see by the extractor cut not lined up. Also missing the Extractor.

Ken at RollingBlock.com can help you out, if you need parts.
