Think I already know the answer to this but will I'll ask to make sure
Purchased a Rem SPS 700 in 300WSM and was wondering if any short action cal will fit the WSM or is the stock specific to the WSM family?
Was told the SA stock will work but may need a little work to make the box mag fit etc
Thanks

I think you're asking of an other stock would fit on your Rem 700 in .300WSM? Yes, any stock for a short action Rem 700 will fit as long as its of the same magazine configuration, ie: floor plate, adl, dbm.

Thanks bcsteve that's what I was looking for
I want to replace the SPS stock on my rifle
I have my eye on a few stocks that came off a 308
Just wanted to be reassured there were no altercations needed

Well that is not exactly correct...........Remington uses what they refer to as their magnum profile barrel on the 300 WSM and their standard caliber contour on their 308/243/260 etc. You will have to open up the barrel channel for your WSM for certain. All else is the same and redoing the barrel channel is relatively simple.

Good point. I was just thinking action size. Like you mentioned, nothing a deep socket and some sandpaper can't fix in short order.

I have found that a piece of 1/2" EMT (electrical metallic tubing) and grind it so it gets good and sharp on the end and then use it as a scraper/cutter. Works very well and way faster than sandpaper...........That was the old way before I bought a complete set of barrel channel tools from Brownells, they work way better...........imagine that!!!!!!!!!!!
