Sendero

I ordered a 7mm mag sendero and a nightforce scope but they havent arrived yet. SIR has the sendero on backorder. Very nice piece you have there.

I am very happy with mine. Bought it a year ago it now has 600 rounds through it and with hand loads will shoot 0.5 MOA with 190 & 200's. The only factory rounds through it were Federal 180gn Powershock all 20 rounds went into a 1 1/4" square @ 100 yards. It was a confidence inspiring rifle during last years hunting season and faired well at this years Summerland Fun Shoot. It has been bedded, Limbsaver recoil pad installed, ballast added into rear stock cavity and currently out having a Holland brake installed. Recoil is very manageable in its unaltered configuration, the brake is so I can spot my own short/mid range shots. Enjoy!

Had a bunch of fun with mine(300 Win)!
Averaged just over an inch at 350 yards with 200mks....Not bad for a factory gun!
I also added a Nightforce and Jewel.

What chamber is yours?

Looks like a great place to shoot!

Do yourself a favor and get a good cleaning rod and bore guide.

Those multi piece rods can be hard on a barrel.

X2 and X3, the senderos are great rifles I have one in a 300 wm as well and the thing with hand loads really holds its own out to 500 yards, that is as far as I have taken it.

I bought mine for long range field huning and have it topped with a VX III 6x 20 x40mm

Have you done any loading for your yet?

Mine seems to like H 4350 and 180 grain bullets I loaded some 175 SMKs fir fun and shot it at 100 -300 yards. The gun is more cabible than I am.

I would love to send it away some day to get a percision barrel and a tune up done to it and put it through its paces

Get some Reloader 22....You'll thank me!

If a rifle chambered in 300 Win wont shoot a 180 gr bullet over 74-76 grains of RL-22 it probably wont shoot!

Recoil has not been an issue at all with my Sendero 300WM however I havent put anymore than 60 ish rounds through it in a day, no pain, no discomfort, no anticipation. Now if I was to shoot more than 60 rounds all shooting from prone that would be a different story. I recently had Dennis Sorensen install a holland brake on the factory barrel to shorten up the distances I could self spot my own shots. That distance has now gone from seeing bullet impacts at 900 yards and out with out the brake to 300 yards and beyond with the brake. An added benefit has also been the significant recoil and muzzle jump reduction.

How do you guys find recoil for putting 80 to 100 rounds down range without a muzzle brake?

A nine pound Sendero finishes at about 12 pounds after rings, bases, and a Nightforce.....I shoot 200smk's at 2940fps....Without a brake recoil is still significant as is barrel heat. 100 rounds is a lot of shooting to both the shooter and the barrel. I normally shoot 40-60 rounds in an afternoon otherwise the barrel gets too hot. I normally shoot 5 rounds, rack the rifle, and then come back to it when it cools down.

If you are asking if the 300 is a good part of a competitive combination I'd say the answer is no....it's not ideal. There are other combinations that are easier on both shooter and barrels.

As a long range hunter I'd rate it in the top five. It might be the best all around LR hunter.

X is right about the Reloader 22. Mine used to like 178gr A-maxs. Here is a pic of what it used to look like:

Since then it went in to ATRS to get a Rock Creek 5R barrel, ATRS muzzle brake, blueprinted action, tubb recoil lug...
I'm still trying to get used to the tight chamber and get a load worked out but it is shooting well with 190 SMKs.
