remington single shot

who makes the remington single shot rifles?they are made in russia,anybody had any experiences with them?i am looking at one in .223

"...who makes the..." Baikal. Parts, should you ever need any, will likely be an issue. Doesn't take a centre fire scope mount. Uses an 11mm .22 scope rail.
I think Remington discontinued 'em. Epp's is listing one in .243 at $299.

I was under the impression they were made by Baikal. I can't recall where or who that info came from so take it with a grain of salt.

it is a sharp looking weapon .it has a helical fluted barreland open sights,and yes it is only dovetailed for scope.it is a nice handling light coyote gun to pack around.i might go back tomorrow to try to haggle him down in price.

Yes, the Spartan line are re-badged Baikals. Remington also owns Marlin now, and Marlin owns H&R/N.E.F., so you could say that those are Remington single shot rifles. I haven't heard of any sign that they intend to rebrand them, but it may have influenced their decision to stop marketing a single shot under the Remington name.

"...only dovetailed for scope..." That's not the issue. The size of the dovetail is for .22 scope bases.
"...has a helical fluted barrel..." That's not a factory barrel. No flutes on factory barrels. Not a bad thing though.
"...haggle him down in price..." Not terribly expensive new(the .243 Epp's has is BNIB), but a fistful of cash speaks loudly.
