So I bought 3 packs of Remington slugger 3 inch slugs the other day on sale at Cabela's and so far I'm 3 for 9 duds... I'm fairly new to shooting but is this normal?

It was stored properly, never exposed to heat or wet or anything like that, I'm kind of scared to shoot the other 6 rounds because I keep thinking it's a hangfire and end up waiting for like two minutes with my little 4 pound single shot just standing there hoping to not get donkey kicked by surprise.
It's not my gun either, it works flawlessly with my challenger buck and Target loads.
I also bought a 15 pack of Winchester 2 3/4 slugs from can tire a while back and didn't have this happen once..

Is Remington just crap ammo or do I just have bad luck? Seems weird that the same thing has happened with 2 separate packs. Glad I only bought 3...

Did you try firing them again? Maybe you are getting light strikes. Does your gun have a floating firing pin? If so make sure it is clean and not filled with oil or dirt. Pretty rare to get that many duds on centreline ammo unless it had been stored terribly for a long time.

I tried firing 2 of the 3 duds again and same thing, then I tried my challenger buck because I thought it might be the gun and it worked fine.
6 of the 9 have been good it's just those 3 so far and I still have 6 more. I'm gonna try the duds AGAIN in my Mav 88 tommorow just to be 100% that it's not the gun, but I really don't think it is.
