I hunt whitetailed deer with a .270 and a .30-30. I have always used Remington Express Soft Point Core-lokt (pointed version in the .270). Most deer were dropped in their tracks or close to it, while a few needed some tracking. I've never had any pass-throughs with this ammo.
I went to my local gunshop to buy some premium ammo but my gunsmith talked me out of it. He swears by the SP Core-lokts. He says he will sell me more expensive premium ammo if I want it, but it won't make the deer any deader and the increase in accuracy is negligible for hunting purposes.
Whadda ya thing about the Remington Express Soft Point Core-lokts? Should I stick with them for deer?
