Remington Speedmaster 552

Good day all. I have a Remington Speedmaster 552. Trying to figure out how old it is and value. It has C P 55 stamped on the barrel.

I believe if the original barrel supercedes the tubular magazine by allrovimately three inches it's pre 1980 production. And if the barrel almost matches magazine length (about one inch beyond) it's 1980 or later production.
Just a little I know of them.

Thanks. I guess it's older than the 80's due to the magazine and barrel.

The letters on Remington barrels are a date code.

First letter is month of manufacture, on the cipher BLACKPOWDERX. Yours is month of April (C).

Second is a sequence for the year. Letter P could be for 1923 (not possible considering the 552 wasn't made until '57), 1967, 1995, or 2018. Given that you seem to have decided due to other features that it's at least 40 years old, that only leaves 1967.
