My Remington Sportsman 58 12 ga fails to feed the second shell about 50% of the time on doubles. The second shell is elevated about half way to the mouth of the chamber then the lifter jams so the breech block cannot come forward to push the shell into the chamber and I think that the problem is that the tiny projection at the top of the Carrier Latch has broken off. Parts diagrams seem to show a projection there.
I would appreciate if someone who has a 58 would examine the Carrier Latch on their gun and confirm whether there should be that little projection.
If so then I need to replace my latch.
