Are these available in Canada yet? Anybody have an idea on the price? Quality?

Wow, never own a 410, thanks for the input.

I think these would be sweet for grouse, nice and light with a scope for head shots or maybe taking a rabbit or two.

A .410 is a small shotgun. A .22 is probably a better game cartridge than a .410. As a shotgun it is easy to fire, but not much use on anything but very small game. A 12 gauge is infinitely more useful, because of the extremely wide variety of shells available (and much more readily available too).

FWIW, I've wanted a Savage 12 ga/30-30 combo for a long time.

Well then tell the number of rabbits and grouse I and many other people have shot that the 410 is no good mind you my sweet 16s are ideal. I would like to see a few of these floating around.

That is exactly why I want one. There are times when a .410 is perfect and times when a .22 is perfect for partridge. I dislike, immensely, tainting what little meat there is on the tasty guys.

I am thinking a Red Dot and away we go. :D

Red dot, that would be sweet, good sight picture and does not take away from true shotgun shooting. I like that idea, I should look into one of these in the spring.

I have a 410 double I use for grouse a lot. esp. along road allowances where it is not legal to shoot a grouse with a .22. In other areas I sometimes use one of a couple .22s. I used to use an over and under .222 over 20 ga. I always used the 20 ga. but often thought about getting one of those inserts that allow a .22 to be fired in .222 chamber.

A 410 .22 combo would be a handy grouse gun.

i only used a 410 shotgun once and at 20 yards i could physically see the pellets bouncing off the grouse taking only feathers. then only way i got that bird was after gave the gun to a buddy and walked up to the stunned bird and broke its neck useless shot gun for over 10 yards in my opinion. 20 ga is the min for me. the only use i could see is shooting rats in a barn.....

Must be those damn kevlar feathers.

i own one of these, the baikal version in 22lr/410. I like it and I have yet to find a better grouse/small game gun. I usually use the 22 bbl for grouse but like the 410 bbl for when they are skulking at the edge of the road in grass/bush and i cant get a clear shot with the 22. This gun offers the best of both worlds in my opinion, and for the money (i think i paid $300 for mine) i think they are excellent value. As for 410 pellets "bouncing" off the grouse, thats pretty dumb a 410 shoots as fast 12 or 20 gauge there is just less pellets as the shell is smaller:rolleyes: . If anybody is thinking about getting one they get my thumbs up.

Good to hear a report on these, ya the comment about pellets bouncing off does not make any sense, but I guess believe what you will. The pellets are the same size and the same speed, weight it also the same so the force per pellet is identical there are just a lot fewer pellets. The little 410 in rabbit and grouse country is the best, no picking out birdshot, or very little.

i got a .410/.22mag combo its a savage model 24. havent really hunted with it much i just bought it because of the excellent condition and i only paid 100$ for it. i have taken it squirrel hunting before, no head after they get hit with the .22 mag. i have also fired .410 slugs out of this gun and to my surprise is very accurate at 50 yards

I have come across a few .22/.410 Savages and they all, IMO, had been seriously abused. :( You got a good deal there ontario.

I just bought an older Savage .410/.22. I figure it will be great for rabbit hunting. Can use either for a rabbit and if you see a coyote you have .410 slugs. There are tons of coyote tracks where I am going to hunt rabbits. Just in the process or refinishing the stocks right now.

How is it a load of #X shot @ 1200fps from a .410 will bounce off a grouse while the same #X shot @ 1200fps from a 12ga won't.

Better switch to a 10ga and shoot #2 with a full choke at close range. I guarentee the shot won't bounce off then. :runaway: :)
