Remington SPS Tactical .308 owners advice- Most accurate factory ammo?

Every rifle is a law unto itself.

What shoots like  in one rifle, might shoot well in another.

Try any brand, try to stay away from the real cheap stuff.
Choose the ammo that has a good quality bullet loaded into it.
Your 1:10" twist should stabilize any weight well.
Look for the 165gr. Or heavier match ammo.
As long as you dont plan to hunt with it.
I have had really good luck with Nosler ballistic tips, and sierra Game/ or Match Kings.

If you want to get the optimum performance from your rifle, look at reloading.
This way you can choose what ever component you want, and even what velocity range (within the capabilities of the cartridge). plus you will learn allot more about what makes a rifle shoot well.

Its been sooooo long since I shot a factiry round in a centerfire!
More than 20 years i think.
Have fun and straight shoot'in you gunnutz!

Hornady/Norma/Winchester/Federal match ammunition will likely shoot as well in your rifle as any. Be prepared for a bit of sticker shock. If you are going to do any amount of precision shooting, you will want to handload. In my experience, Hornady Match with the 155gr AMAX is outstanding.
As mentionned, rifles are individuals, and some rifles will do better with one make and load than with others.

I realize every rifle is different and I do plan on getting a reloading setup in the future but till then I would like to know what everyone has had the most success with. Im gonna buy a box of 2 or 3 different brands today to test out tommorow. There are many brands out there and I wish I could buy them all to try out tommorow but I can only afford to try a few. Trying to determine which to try first. Thanks for the replies.......Please keep them coming

Hornady

I used to swear by the 168 gr Hornady AMAX match ammo in my rem 700 LTR, so did three other guys in my group before we started reloading.

Sub-MOA performance every single day.

Should try out the 175grain BTHP for you next reloading, it work quite well, also 170grain
FMJBT lapua Scena.

168gr Federal Gold Medal Match works well in most .308 rifles.

Federal Gold Match 168gr and 175gr are the "Gold Standard".
A good 308, should shot very well with this ammo because of the tangent ogive of 168gr and 175gr SMK bullet and the extremely high manufacturing tolerance of the ammo.

Even better if you can afford it, Lapua 167gr Scenar Match ammo is of ven higher quality but also more difficult to find and more expensive, but you get what you pay for. International shooting matches have been won with Lapua match ammo, not a small feat!
