Remington now have a new SPS Tactical the SPS tactical AAC-SD with 1:10 barrel twist, I know 1:10 twist is better with heavy bullets but why Remington switched from 1:12 to 1:10 the regular SPS tactical has a 1:12 twist. I have read somewhere that it's preferable to use heavy bullets for subsonic is it the only reason why the choose a 1:10 twist?

Are you positive it has a 1:10 twist? It really should have a 1:8 twist for subsonics.

The AAC-SD is specifically made to accept a sound suppressor and to be useful with subsonics so to answer your question, yes the twist rate change is to accomodate subsonics.

I have one and can confirm the 1:10" twist. Out of the box, I was shooting 1/2 MOA with crappy hunting 180 grain ammo.

I'm going to do a review on this. Amazing bang for the buck.

I'm now more interested in one ;) what's the color of your stock and do you plan to change it?

It's "kinda" grayish green with some texturing. I will snap a pic when I get the chance.

Replacing the stock was the first thing I was going to do, but since it is working just fine, why mess with it? I can only imagine what it can do with reloads since it shot so well with crap ammo.

Either I got a rare 700 SPS AAC and/or my crappy ammo must have escaped the long arm of "cheapness".

As a rookie to this stuff I picked up the same gun in January, mainly for the price and Rem 700 reputation. I put on a Falcon 4-14X44 on a Burris 0 min rail. Shot a few loads ( 45gr Varget, fed 210M primers, factory once fired brass ans a Hornady 178gr A-Max, can't recall OAL but I think it's close to the lands). Five shots all touching in a row across. My smith is installing a Choate stock but I think it was shooting fine with the factory stock. Shots were taken at 100 yards. I'll take her out next weekend to stretch her legs out to 300 to 600 yards. I really like the look and feel of the factory stock but changed it for the fun of it (apparently it's like a "wet noodle"). This gun is probably capable of better groups in the right hands but I don't care, this is my new hobby and I'm going to dump some cash into it. Looking forward to your report. I'll post some of my info and pics too once I get back out.
