Now I purchased the gun this fall and have Put a boyds stock on it and a rifle basics trigger and no other mods the scope is a bushnell 6500 tactical the rings are the cheaper vortex 30mm and the base rail is a weaver 20 MOA . here is a pic of the gun and a 5 rnd group
Now my question is will pillar bedding improve the group whats been your experience . The group was shot at 100yrds with 105Amax bullets and Varget seemed to produce some of the best groups so far I've just started tinkering with the load..Now so far for a gun that costs around $750.00 plus a 180.00ish stock and a 125.00 trigger for a total of$1055.00 I'm fairly happy with its performance so far will a pillar bedding job Help ?What do you think of the group size ? Should I expect better?

Just normal glass bedding would be fine and cheaper too. That stock is solid and not distorting when you tighten the screws, pillars not required.

Ok thanks guys just normal bedding it is then . I'm trying to build it on a budget lol.
Added this question to the top as well . What do you think of the group size? What should I expect ?

Keep playing with your loads, it looks to me like the rifle wants to shoot. Beddiing will help with rifles that wont group but with one that will it isnt always a noticeable improvement.

Yeh my greatest fear is that after bedding the group opens up and instead of improving it does the opposite if it stays the same that's alright as long as it does not get worse LOL

Just take care that the action screws are torqued properly. For a Devcon putty bedding job I have done one of mine set to 45 inch pounds. If you use brass or aluminum pillars or just use pillars made of Devcon of suitable dimension before full length bedding, then I would torque to around 55 inch pounds. Without a decent layer of Devcon I have seen a Boyds stock damaged by over enthusiastic torque settings on action screws. Does not normally happen because most of their stocks are fairly stout.

I prefer to put a Remington or T3 Tikka in a Bell & Carlson stock with a full length aluminum bedding block to gain precision, and have had great succession doing so.
