Will a rear stock off a small frame 870 or a 760/740 fit a remington 552 ?

Not likely. An 870/cf rifle receiver is a lot bigger than a .22 receiver.

I believe he is referring to the 20 gauge framed 870. The 742/7400 stocks will fit the 20 gauge 870, not sure about the 552. I have a 7400 stock and can measure if needed.
